1. The Asbury Hotel
A dynamic mix of past and present, the new Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park combines the city’s Victorian-era charm with a modern-day rock ‘n’ roll vibe for an all-around vibrant environment. Relax in one of the luxurious rooms, each featuring contemporary décor juxtaposed with historic black-and-white photographs of beach and music scenes. Enjoy ocean views from The Baronet (the rooftop garden), or grab a bite to eat at Beergarden, offering authentic street food and craft beers next to the pool.
2. Slack Tide Brewing Company
Opened in October 2015, Slack Tide craft brewery in Clermont features a lineup of specialty beers, many with names that nod to New Jersey’s coastal location, such as Angry Osprey American IPA and Avalon Amber American Red Ale. The brews use all natural ingredients, and many feature locally sourced ingredients as well.
3. StarLux Mini-Golf Course (Opening Soon)
The latest addition to Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, the StarLux will feature 27 holes across three distinct courses. See a giant sand dune and a massive sandcastle at the beach-themed course, or head over to the ocean-themed course to spot creatures of the sea. The Doo-Wop course on the second floor features Wildwood memorabilia. Afterward, satisfy your sweet tooth at Johnson’s Sweets & Treats.
4. Grand Prix Raceway
Also at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, this high-speed course reopened Memorial Day Weekend with some new features. Now you can buckle up in a go-kart and race your way through Adventure Pier on an extended wooden track, featuring plenty of fast turns.
5. The Joker Roller Coaster
Designed with DC Comics villain The Joker in mind, this 4-D scream-machine at Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in Jackson opened in May 2016. With no track above or below you, the free-fly roller coaster features unique wing vehicles that will make you feel like you’re flying as you zoom down terrifying drops, rolls and turns.
6. GaleForce! Roller Coaster
This brand new roller coaster at Playland’s Castaway Cove in Ocean City will blow you away as it launches you upward at 64 miles per hour. Zoom 125 feet into the air, feel your stomach plummet during the beyond-90-degree drop, and get a thrill as you experience its winding turns.
7. Fresh on Fifth
From fruit and vegetable smoothies to flavorful salads to innovative wraps, Fresh on Fifth restaurant in North Wildwood opened April 2016, to the delight of health conscious visitors and locals alike. Try an Earth Wrap made with olive oil roasted zucchini, feta cheese, baby spinach, hummus, lemon, red onion, red sweet pepper, cilantro, pine nuts and just a hint of mint.
8. Joe’s Fish Co. New Second Level
At Morey’s Piers, Joe’s Fish Co. unveiled its new second-floor bar that overlooks the bustling action of Surfside Pier in Wildwood. Spend some time taking in the sunshine while sipping on a craft beer or a handcrafted cocktail. Watch some TV or a live music performance for endless entertainment.
9. The Establishment
In North Wildwood, The Establishment opened April 2016, offering a menu packed with gourmet contemporary American cuisine and innovative cocktails. From unique meat dishes ranging from veal to short rib and seafood options such as salmon, mussels and crab, this restaurant utilizes the bounty of pastures, farms and the ocean. A carefully curated wine list and specialty cocktails round out the offerings.
