Plan a romantic getaway with a road trip along the New Jersey Wine & Chocolate Trail, a network of wineries throughout the state offering special events in February.

NORTHERN NEW JERSEY

Start your excursion at Brook Hollow Winery in Columbia for a weekend of special events. Sample a lineup of distinctive wines, and meet with the winery’s chocolatier to indulge in a variety of chocolates and their must-try Triple Chocolate Chambourcin Cake. Then make your way just up the road to The RoseMary Inn, a luxurious bed and breakfast surrounded by charming pastoral lands.

Drive Time: Brook Hollow Winery > Alba Vineyard – Approximately 45 minutes

Alba Vineyard in Finesville celebrates its own version of the Wine & Chocolate Trail where visitors can indulge in a special tasting of award-winning wines paired with decadent chocolates, artisan cheeses and other culinary delights for $20 per person. Make sure to take a winery tour and receive your special etched glass, included. Just 15 minutes away in Milford, you and your sweetheart can spend the evening at Chestnut Hill on the Delaware, a charming Victorian-era bed and breakfast on the banks of the Delaware River.

Drive Time: Alba Vineyard > Old York Cellars – Approximately 45 minutes

Make your way to Old York Cellars in Ringoes, tucked amid 25 scenic acres of farmland. Here, you can indulge in a wine and chocolate tasting for two during February. While you’re here, don’t miss taking a picture in the photo booth and having your picture printed as a wine label. Less than 10 minutes away, retreat to Main Street Manor in Flemington, a Victorian bed and breakfast tucked away in a small historic village.

Drive Time: Old York Cellars > Terhune Orchards – Approximately 25 minutes

And finally, head over to Terhune Orchards Vineyard & Winery in Princeton, where you can sample award-winning wines paired with chocolate treats made right in their bakery, on two weekends in February. Just a few minutes away, you also could spend the night at Chauncey Hotel & Conference Center, a luxurious hotel surrounded by serene woodlands.

SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY

Start in Cape May wine country, where you’ll find Hawk Haven Vineyard & Winery, set on a sprawling farm in Rio Grande. For their Wine & Chocolate Wine Trail Weekend during February, you can enjoy a romantic wine tasting paired with chocolates, special discounts on cases of wine, as well as wine-related gifts. While you’re here, learn about the winemaking process with a vineyard and winery tour.

Nearby Candelight Inn in Wildwood makes the perfect home base for a romantic getaway, as this turn-of-the-century bed and breakfast is just blocks from restaurants, the beach and the boardwalk.

Drive Time: Hawk Haven Vineyard > Coda Rossa Winery – Approximately 1 hour, 5 minutes

The next day, continue on your road trip to Coda Rossa Winery in Franklinville, featuring both New Jersey and California wines in the tasting room. Enjoy their Wine Trail Weekend festivities during February, when you can sip and sample more than 18 wines while noshing on sweet snacks by the chocolate fountain, for $7.50 per person.
