Atlantic City Boardwalk

It's the world's first and longest Boardwalk.

Songs have been sung about it. Books have been written about it. Movies have been filmed on it. It’s the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and odds are if you’re visiting Atlantic City you'll spend some time on the great wooded way.

Whether you’re taking a stroll, people watching or just using it to get from your favorite restaurant to your favorite casino, remember there is nothing quite like the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Instead of walking, you could try riding in a Rolling Chair that will make you feel like royalty and will get you quickly to your next destination. Many people in Atlantic City take advantage of the Boardwalk all year round with a great morning exercise routine.

Between 6 am and 10 am, the boards are open to bike riders. You can even rent a bike on the Boardwalk at both Iowa and North Carolina avenues.

You can also find walkers and joggers taking advantage of it no matter what the hour. But for most, there is fun to be had. Located at Kennedy Plaza, across from Boardwalk Hall, you can enjoy the ocean breeze and work on your swing at Atlantic City Miniature Golf.

At Central Pier Arcaide and Speedway you can enjoy an array of arcade games, as well as go-carts and paint ball. If you want to experience unusual and bizarre exhibits, stop into the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum.

If you are looking for art and history along the Boardwalk, we have just the place for you. Garden Pier, on the Boardwalk at New Jersey Ave., is home to both the Atlantic City Art Center and Atlantic City Historical Museum. Stop in to learn a little about this Shore resort’s history.

Both are open year round with free admission. There are also many year-round parades and events in Atlantic City, which help create a festive atmosphere.

During spring, there are two major parades held in Atlantic City. In March, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the city’s largest parade, has everyone seeing green. Or show off your Sunday best during the Atlantic City Easter Parade.

The Puerto Rican Parade also takes place on the Boardwalk in August, immediately followed by the Latin Music Festival. While there are plenty of concerts to choose from, a free concert series takes place every summer at Kennedy Plaza, on the Boardwalk at Mississippi Ave.

On Thur. nights in July and August you can enjoy the musical stylings of renowned and recorded jazz musicians along with emerging local jazz artists during the Chicken Bone Beach Jazz Concert Series. The Atlantic City Marathon has participants from across the U.S. competing to qualify for the Boston Marathon. For more than 50 years, athletes have tested their strength and stamina by participating in this 26.2-mile marathon that is known for its flat and fast course.

There’s also a half marathon, 10K, 5K and a kid’s Fun Run, to accommodate all fitness levels. The race not only has people running on the world-famous Boardwalk, it also takes runners through the streets of Atlantic City as well as the neighboring communities of Ventnor, Margate and Longport.
