Belmar

This classic Jersey Shore town boasts a mile-long beach for sunning, bathing and some of the best surfing on the east coast.

The town’s beach, along with its Boardwalk and the many special events, make this a highly popular destination.

Its sandy shores attract a youthful crowd that sunbathes by day and takes advantage of the animated after-hours scene at night.

To experience a bit of Belmar bonhomie, head to either D’Jais (Ocean Avenue) or Bar Anticipation (16th Avenue) on a hot summer night.

Of course, Belmar also draws other shore lovers to its pristine beaches, including families, fishermen and world-class surfers.

Belmar’s also hosts the annual Eastern Surfing Competition during the week of Labor Day.

Don’t Miss:
• Boathouse Bar & Grill, with sports on 30 screens
• Klein’s Fish Market for dockside dining
• The annual New Jersey Seafood Festival, held each June at Silver Lake Park

Natural Attraction: Belmar has one of the largest marinas in New Jersey. It’s a launch point for deep-sea fishing for fluke, sea bass, tuna and bluefish. To try your hand at reeling in a big one, head down to the Belmar Marine Basin. There are a number of “party boats” (fishing boats that are open to individuals to create a large fishing “party”) here that operate nearly year-round.
