Cape May Capturing Romance

At the southern tip of New Jersey, where the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay meet, sits enchanting Cape May. The nation’s oldest seashore resort, the city is a National Historic Landmark where you can easily walk or bike to explore its Victorian and natural beauty. Cape May’s beaches have been one of the city’s main visitor attractions for over 200 years. No matter the season, Cape May is a destination that always captures the romance.
Many of the restored Victorian homes and cottages in the city have been turned into charming bed and breakfasts and hotels. Half block from the beach is the Victorian Angel of the Sea bed & breakfast; all reservations include a full gourmet breakfast, afternoon tea and sweets, and evening wine and cheese. The Chalfonte is a member of Historic Hotels of America and its elegant Magnolia Room restaurant serves up traditional Southern fare, open to the public. The Grand Hotel is featuring a special “Valentines Sweetheart Getaway” package with breakfast, a four-course dinner and dance entertainment.
Enjoying seafood in Cape May is a must while visiting. The family-owned Lobster House on the Fisherman’s Wharf has been preparing fresh seafood from its own commercial fishing fleet for over four generations. Another great place to try is Black Duck on Sunset Restaurant, known for its slow roasted honey glazed duck and homemade sorbets and ice creams. Take a class to learn all about the Italian red wines from the Cape May Wine School at the Washington Inn Restaurant on February 16. Or stroll along the Washington Street Mall and find other cafes, restaurants and shops.
Don’t forget to stop by one of the three Cape May Wineries to experience some distinguishing wines. Willow Creek Winery, all winter long is hosting “Fire Pit Fridays” from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. You can bring a blanket and enjoy live music from local musicians, along with Happy-Vino-Hour. Cape May Winery & Vineyard tasting room is open daily.
