Meadowlands
The Meadowlands has two very different meanings, depending upon your interests. If you have a taste for action, the award-winning Meadowlands Sports Complex won’t disappoint.
And if you’re a nature lover, the New Jersey Meadowlands is the place to explore native wetlands, birds and other animals.
On the sporting side of things, there’s never a dull moment, starting with the New Meadowlands Stadium (opening summer 2010), where two NFL teams – the Jets and the 2007 Super Bowl Champion Giants – play their home games.
And don’t forget fast-paced racing action at The Meadowlands Racetrack or Izod Center, where the NBA’s Nets tear up the courts. The Izod Center is also the scene of major concerts and other family events.
The Meadowlands Environment Center (2 DeKorte Plaza, Lyndhurst) is where to go when you need some down time.
The trails here are short vacations into a world of cedar swamps, salt marshes and wetlands. Native birds and other small animals call the area home and birdwatchers are especially keen on the egrets and blue herons that nest here.
