More to Super Bowl than the Game
You don’t have to actually go to the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on February 2, 2014 to enjoy all the fanfare that comes with it.
Now through March 2, 2014, the Liberty Science Center at Liberty State Park in Jersey City is putting on Gridiron Glory: The Best of Pro Football Hall of Fame Exhibit. Gridiron Glory combines sports, history, and culture into an exciting and interactive exhibition where visitors can view historical artifacts, have some hands-on fun by trying on vintage and modern-day football gear, and seeing how you measure up to NFL players’ sizes - along with a chance to meet NFL alumni.
On January 28, 2014, the Prudential Center in Newark will host the official Super Bowl Media Day - but don’t let the event name fool you. While it is the formal day where members of the press conduct interviews with players, coaches, and more, the event is open to the public through ticket sales. Information about the day and how to get tickets will be posted here.
Many local bars and restaurants will be hosting Super Bowl parties. In the past, places like Chickie and Pete’s in Bordentown and Blitz Sports Bar in Newark have offered food and drink specials throughout the game. Be sure to check with your local establishments for pricing and availability!
On game day, you also can participate in the Official NFL Super Bowl Tailgate Party at the Grandstands of the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford. This three-hour pre-game and two-hour post-game event is thrown by the NFL and includes food stations, top shelf liquor, and a yet-to-be-announced big name entertainer.
