Description
Naval aviation museum dedicated to honoring U.S.Naval airmen who perished during their World War II training. The museum houses vintage aircraft and memorabilia and is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places.
Naval Air Station (NAS) Wildwood Aviation Museum is housed inside Hangar #1 at the Cape May County Airport.
Once a World War II dive-bomber squadron training facility, the 92,000-square-foot wooden structure has been restored and houses vintage aircraft from all branches of the military. The museum serves as a memorial to the 42 men who perished while training at the site.
NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum boasts more than 26 aircraft displays as well as exhibits of military memorabilia, engines, photographs and more.
Additionally, the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia has provided NAS Wildwood with a wealth of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to discover the science of flight. There is a family-friendly restaurant across the parking lot.
