The New Jersey Performing Arts Center
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has garnered national attention during its first 11 seasons, serving as a model for programming, audience diversity, education initiatives and the catalytic role it has played in returning nightlife and economic activity to NJ's largest urban community.
The facility, initially served the needs of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the New Jersey State Opera and other state dance and theater companies.
In addition to that, NJPAC routinely hosts national and international performers plus touring companies and has become a world-class entertainment destination.
NJPAC, which is set on 12 acres in downtown Newark, includes a 2,800-seat main theater, a 514-seat smaller theater and a 250-seat cabaret room.
On its opening night, NJPAC became the sixth largest performing arts center in the U.S. that has attracted more than 5.5 million patrons (including more than one million children) since its Oct. 18, 1997 opening night.
