The most decorated battleship in U.S. Navy history is permanently berthed on the Camden Waterfront as a floating museum.
Visitors are able to tour this great ship and learn of her esteemed history as a protector of the United States and democracy everywhere.
On May 23, 1943 the Battleship New Jersey entered service during World War II. Over the years the battleship served in Korea, Vietnam and other theaters of operations until its final decommissioning.
In 2001, the ship arrived at its final destination at the Camden Waterfront.
The Battleship New Jersey is located on the Camden Waterfront, across the Delaware River from Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia. Directions From South in New Jersey: Take I-295 North, Route 55 North, or the Atlantic City Expressway West to Route 42 North. Exit Route 42 North onto I-676 North. Take I-676 North to Martin Luther King Boulevard exit. Follow directions below “From Martin Luther King Boulevard”. From North in New Jersey: Take the NJ Turnpike South to Exit 4. After exit, take Route 73 North approximately one mile and exit onto I-295 South. Take I-295 South to the next exit (Route 70 West). Follow Route 70 West and signs for Benjamin Franklin Bridge to Route 30 West (Admiral Wilson Boulevard). Follow Route 30 West to Martin Luther King Boulevard exit (before the Benjamin Franklin Bridge). Follow directions below “From Martin Luther King Boulevard”. From Walt Whitman Bridge: Take I-95 or I-76 East to Walt Whitman Bridge. Take the bridge into New Jersey and at first ramp follow signs to I-676 North. Take I-676 North to Martin Luther King Boulevard (Exit 5A). Follow directions below “From Martin Luther King Boulevard”. From Benjamin Franklin Bridge: Stay in the right lane on the bridge. Immediately when you have crossed over the bridge into New Jersey, take the first exit (sign reads, 6th Street, Broadway & Camden). Then follow the sign for 6th Street toward your right and turn right onto 6th Street. Your first stop sign will be Penn Street, cross over Penn Street and continue along 6th Street to the next stop sign, this will be Cooper Street. Turn right onto Cooper Street (you are now parallel with the bridge). Continue to follow Cooper Street through 5 traffic lights until you reach Delaware Avenue (6th light). Turn left onto Delaware Avenue. Just after you cross over Federal Street the entrance to the parking garage will be on your right. (Buses continue on Delaware Avenue past the garage and see information listed below for Bus Drop Off and Parking or Clinton Street Arrivals, whichever applies to your group.) From Martin Luther King Blvd. (formerly known as Mickle Blvd.): Take Martin Luther King Blvd. West towards the Waterfront. Follow until you come to Wiggins Park Circle, then turn right to go past the Children’s Garden (Children’s Garden will be on your left). Follow Riverside Drive to the first stop sign and turn right onto Federal Street. Follow Federal Street one block and turn right onto Delaware Avenue. Just after you turn onto Delaware Avenue the entrance to the parking garage will be on your right. Navigation Systems or Mapping Needs For specific driving directions from your starting location, visit www.maps.google.com or use your vehicle navigation system and enter your destination address as 1 Delaware Avenue, Camden, NJ 08103 (this is the address for the PSE&G Waterfront Garage). If you are traveling to the ship, enter 100 Clinton Street, Camden, NJ 08103. Cars, SUVs & Minivans – Parking Garage Cars, SUVs and Minivans should park in the Waterfront Garage on Delaware Avenue at Federal Street. The garage clearance is 6’ 10”. The Bus drop-off point is at the intersection of Delaware Avenue (also known as Jersey Joe Wolcott Blvd) and Harbour Blvd adjacent to the Susquehanna Bank Center (you will see the Benjamin Franklin Box Office on your right and the rail road tracks will turn to your left to enter into the Waterfront Entertainment Station for the River Line). You are parallel with the Delaware River. Pedestrians should then walk toward the river and you will see the Battleship New Jersey. . Bus - Parking After Buses drop off guests - • Buses have two options: ~ If you feel as if you can turn around safely, turn around and then proceed North along Delaware Avenue to Cooper Street and turn left onto Cooper Street ~ If you don’t feel as if you can turn around safely, follow Delaware Avenue until it dead ends at Clinton Street. Turn left onto Clinton Street, follow Clinton Street to 3rd Street, turn left onto 3rd Street, follow 3rd Street to Market Street, turn left onto Market Street, follow Market Street to Delaware Avenue, turn right onto Delaware Avenue, follow Delaware Avenue to Cooper Street and turn left onto Cooper Street • Follow Cooper Street straight ahead to the lot on the left side - Lot # 9 • Parking for each bus is $20.00 and is payable to the lot attendant
