Memphis is set where rock and roll was born- the nightclubs, radio stations, and recording studios of the 1950's. This Tony Award-winner tells the fictional story of DJ Huey Calhoun, a good ol' boy with a passion for R&B, and Felicia Farrell, a young black singer that he meets one fateful night. Despite the objections, they embark together on a dangerous affair. As careers rise, their relationship is challenged by ambition and the pressures of an outside world unable to accept their love. The New York Post calls Memphis "exuberant" with "catchy songs and heaping spoonfuls of inspirational moments."
