The exhibit celebrates the US Coast Guard and the evacuation of Manhattan during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
The new area has an 8'x40' custom pictoral / graphic depicting the history of "Sewells Point" site of the USCG Training Center Cape May, NJ. Other features include a flight simulator, a child-sized toy helicopter and a number of photographs and memorabilia donated by friends of the museum.
An HH-52A Seaguard helicopter serves as the exhibit's centerpiece and is one of the museum’s aircraft that visitors are encouraged to climb into.
The USCG training center recently donated the interactive 9/11 display titled, "All Available Boats: Harbor Voices and Images 9.11.01," which brings to life the maritime evacuation efforts in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.
