Shop Local: Holiday Craft Fairs
Looking for a unique gift this holiday season? New Jersey’s craft fairs are a great place to find one-of-a-kind, Jersey-made specialties to share with family and friends. The Christkindlmarkt in Tuckerton is set for December 6, 7, and 8 and will add a Christmas village vibe to your holiday shopping. Among many other things to do for you and the kids, the holiday market and fair will feature local craft and gift vendors under heated tents. Also on Saturday and Sunday December 7 and 8 is the Hoboken City Hall Holiday Crafts Fair. This event features artwork and unique handcrafted gift items by local crafters and artisans, including, jewelry, hand-knitted scarves, hats, and sweaters, soaps and body lotions, pottery, wooden household items, photography, kids’ items, holiday ornaments, and much more.
Looking to go au naturale with your gifts this year? Union County’s Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside is home to the Holiday Nature Craft Show on Sunday, December 8. At this show you’ll find handmade, unique arts and crafts, as well as holiday gift items, made with natural materials or with a nature theme, including eco-friendly art, knitted goods, painted glass and wood, and more.
The Friends of Frelinghuyson Arboretum in Morris Township will host its Gingerbread Wonderland Craft Show on the weekends of December 6 and 7, and December 14 and 15. Here you’ll also find local crafters offering hand-made, affordable gifts.
On December 14 - 15, the First Unitarian Society of Plainfield will host the 5th Annual Holiday Craft Fair. This event features everything from hand-knitted accessories to original photography; from one-of-a-kind jewelry to home-baked goodies…all made by local artisans and just plain creative folks from the area.
