Start planning for these fun-filled weekend events taking place in the next three months:
 
May 
 
Salem County Arts in Bloom, Salem, May 17-18, 2014: A free two-day event in which more than 50 local artists in more than 30 locations throughout Salem County open their studios to the public for gallery tours featuring pottery demonstrations, leatherworking, stained glass, puppetry and family activities. Many local restaurants and cafes are offering discounts as well.
 
Wildwoods International Kite Festival, Wildwood, May 23-26, 2014: The largest kite festival in North America gathers kite makers from across the globe to show off their best. The illuminated kite flight at night is something to see. There is also an auction, kite exhibits and workshops and even an indoor kite competition.
 
June 
 
New Jersey Seafood Festival, Belmar (June 13-15, 2014): One of the country’s largest seafood events, the festival—now in its 28th year—not only offers the chance to purchase offerings from over 45 of the area’s best restaurant and food vendors, but also features live entertainment, crafts and family fun.
 
State Fair Meadowlands, East Rutherford, June 20-July 6, 2014: The whole family will enjoy the festivities during this 17-day event, with highlights including live performances on two stages, more than 150 rides and attractions. Free live shows include racing pigs, a hypnotist and The Big Cats Show with lions and tigers.
 
31st Annual Blueberry Festival, Browns Mill, June 28, 2014: Celebrate all things blueberry at this old fashioned festival including a blueberry pie eating. Enjoy blueberry picking, live country music, lots of children’s activities, great food, historical presentations and tours, pinelands artists and crafters and lots more.
 
July 
 
Oceanfest at Long Branch, Long Branch, July 4, 2014: One of the biggest July 4th events in New Jersey, Oceanfest takes place along the oceanfront promenade and combines music, food, crafts, clown and carnival acts, sand sculpture demonstrations, costumed characters and the Jersey Shore’s largest fireworks show.
 
FilmOneFest 2014, Atlantic Highlands, July 19, 2014: Local and international super-short films under two minutes in length are projected on a giant outdoor screen on Sandy Hook Bay. Art and craft displays, clowns, stilt-walkers, live music and food round out this evening event.
 
QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, Readington, July 25-27, 2014: More than 100 hot air balloons (including special shaped balloons) to watch and/or to ride, plus three concerts, food vendors, hundreds of arts and crafters, amusement rides, fireworks and more make up this three-day colorful event.
