Description
One of the oldest continuously operating community theaters in the United States presents four shows per year.
Founded in 1918 in an 1891 Richardsonian Romanesque library, it is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places.
Because of Marjorie Jefferson, a longtime director, it is Site 89 on the NJ Women's Heritage Trail. There are three plays a season and a summer youth show.
In October the Playhouse participates in Union County's "Four Centuries in a Weekend" program offering architectural and historic tours. Free tours at other times are by appointment.
