The Highlands Region covers much of Northern New Jersey and includes portions of Sussex, Passaic, Bergen, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon and Somerset counties. The area stretches from Phillipsburg, Warren County in the southwest to Mahwah, Bergen County in the northeast. This lush region is rich in scenic beauty - geological rock formations, rolling hills and farmland, lakes, rivers and streams and plenty of wildlife habitats.
Choose from thousands of miles of trails, hundreds of bird species, dozens of rivers, lakes and streams, two national parks, one breathtaking region all within a tank of gas from New York, Philadelphia and New England. The Highland's Region is also noted for its wineries that produce award-winnings wines. In addition to its wineries, the Highland's Region also features a number of pick-your-own farms and farmers markets. Many of these farms have special events year round. So stop by enjoy the family fun activities and get some Jersey Fresh vegetables or fruits.
Alstede Farms always has something going on with pick your own activities, farmer's market and farm tours. Donaldson Farms has GREAT sweet corn! Pick-your-own pumpkins and strawberries. Birthday parties, kids farm camp, events.
Longmeadow Farm has a wide variety of apples to pick from plus raspberries, cut flowers, pumpkins plus honey and a huge assortment of jams and jellies. Wightmans Farms offers a bakery, deli, fruit and gift baskets, flowers and plants, homegrown flower bouquets and fall hardy mums. Finest quality Christmas trees, wreaths and decorations plus fruits, vegetables and much more. Grochowicz Farms has a large variety of items in their farm market and bakery, nice location on Rt. 31 and easily accessible.
