Water sports in New Jersey can take just about any form imaginable. With 130 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline, numerous rivers, streams and lakes inland and the Delaware River there are endless water sports possibilities.

Up and down the coast visitors and residents alike can enjoy jet skiing, wind sailing, recreation boating, parasailing, surfing, scuba diving, canoeing / kayaking, swimming and fishing.

One very popular water sport is the New Jersey Offshore Grand Prix held each year off Point Pleasant Beach. In addition to the race, there is an entire week of festivities in Point Pleasant Beach and surrounding communities. Race week also includes an amateur event designed for fast boats ranging from 21 feet to 45 feet.

For more than three decades, the New Jersey Offshore Power Boat Racing Association, the oldest organization of its type in the United States, holds an annual series of offshore competitions from May through September.

Beyond the powerboat racing, there are numerous surfing and fishing competitions.
