The crack of a baseball bat, the thundering beat of hooves on the final stretch, the roar of a finely tuned machine—these are the sounds of summer in New Jersey. If you're a sports fan, be sure to download this fun spectator guide to enjoy now and through the fall.

"Snap" Up That Ball!

Have you been humming "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"? Good thing it's minor league baseball season in New Jersey. A team to watch: the "simply clawsome" Lakewood BlueClaws, playing at FirstEnergy Park.

Catch Jack

For a great family night out, take the kids to Yogi Berra Stadium (on the campus of Montclair State University, Little Falls) to see the New Jersey Jackals (CAN-AM) and their mascot, Jack. Fun fact: all the dimensions on the field end in the number 8 to honor the legendary catcher, who wore #8 for the New York Yankees. The Yogi Berra Museum is located next to the field, too.

Digging This Team

Head over to Skylands Stadium in Augusta to watch the Sussex County Miners (CAN-AM) play ball. The team is fired up for the 2017 season—and spectacular post-game fireworks at Saturday home games and on the Fourth of July.

Patriot Games

Named Ballpark Digest's Best Independent Minor League Ballpark two years in a row (2015 & 2016), TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater is the home of the Somerset Patriots, one of the Atlantic League's most successful teams. This summer, catch a ballgame, then stick around for another favorite spectator sport: watching fireworks. The Patriots' 2017 schedule features 20 fireworks nights!

Batter Up

If you love baseball, hot dogs and real dogs, get over to the Arm & Hammer Park, where you can cheer on the Trenton Thunder and the team's beloved bat dogs, Derby and Rookie. The Trenton Thunder Baseball Club is a double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Join the Stampede

Check out one of the nation's premier soccer venues. Red Bull Arena in Harrison, home of Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls, was built specifically for soccer and features a partial translucent roof and good sight lines from every seat. Before the game, visit The BULLevard in front of the Arena for fun activities for fans of all ages.

Thoroughbred Racing

Gallop over to Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport for the thrill of thoroughbred racing and fun events like the BBQ & Craft Beer Festival. For a family outing on the cheap, don't miss Family Fun Days, every Sunday and holiday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Pony rides, face painting, bounce house—free!

Harness Up & Giddy-Up

Ready to see thoroughbreds "go through their paces"? Watch harness races for trotters and pacers at historic Freehold Raceway, the oldest, fastest daytime half-mile harness racing track in the nation. Live races run Thursday-Sunday, post time 12:30 p.m., starting September 1. The track is open year-round with simulcasts from racetracks across North America.

Asphalt vs. Clay

See modified, pro stock, trucks and more race at Wall Stadium Speedway (Wall Township), a 1/3-mile high-banked asphalt oval. Or go for "Thunder in the Pines" at New Egypt Speedway, a 7/16-mile clay track offering family-friendly auto racing every Saturday night from April to October.

Gear Up For Football

Don't miss the granddaddy of all spectator sports: football! For NFL action in New Jersey, head over to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, home of the Giants and Jets.
