Overview

The brisk blue waters of Round Valley Reservoir attract swimmers, boaters, fishermen, picnickers and campers to its scenic shore.

The 2,000 plus acre reservoir swimming area was created by the construction of an earth dam across a narrow waterway on the west side of the reservoir, separating it from the main part of the reservoir. At approximately 180 feet deep, its the deepest lake in New Jersey. The reservoir is stocked with lake trout.

The park offers hunting (waterfowl only), boating/canoeing, trailer & cartop launch, swimming, bathhouse, scuba and skin diving, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, picnic areas, playground, food concession. Cross-country skiers and sledding in the winter.

Swimming is permitted at Round Valley in the Day-use Area only from Memorial Day through Labor Day from 10 am to 6 pm, while lifeguards are on duty. Swimming is not allowed in the main reservoir. The beach complex contains changing areas, restrooms, showers, first-aid station, and concession with food and beach supplies.

There are 85 wilderness family campsites and wilderness tent sites with fire rings, drinking water and pit toilets are within walking distance. Access to campsites by boat, canoe or backpacking. Three-to six-mile hike from parking lot and from most facilities including swimming area. Each family site accommodates up to six people. Open April 1 – Oct. 31.

Fee: Entrance fees are charged per vehicle from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.
