Overview
During the winter of 1779-80, Gen. George Washington and the Continental Army returned to Morristown for their second winter encampment.

For the second encampment Morristown's finest house became a center of the American Revolution. Mrs. Jacob Ford Jr., a widow with four young children, offered the hospitality of her home to Washington and his wife Martha.

Washington was joined by his staff officers while the Ford family, crowded into two rooms of the home, witnessed the historic activities surrounding Washington's war time headquarters. Don't miss this fascinating first–hand look into a chapter of America's revolutionary war history.

This location provides tours and a Visitor Center/Museum with an interactive Discover History exhibit. Tour groups of 15 or more must make reservations. Please call 973-539-2016 x 210 for more information and to confirm tour times.
